Insidious (2011) Wombat Review

This was a film that got bashed by directors and film makers alike. The film is about a family that moves into a new house after a series of paranormal events force them out of their old one only to find that it was their child not their house that is haunted.

While this movie is a blend of the exorcist and poltergeist  it went about it in an interesting way. Using new age beliefs to explain what is going on was a good way to keep this simple story going. The imaginary used for the other world was not only creepy but was the stuff that nightmares are made of. Most of the end of the film feels like you are stuck in one long bad dream.
Grandma?
Where this movie really shines is the first time you watch it. This isn't the type of movie you will watch time and time again nor will it really be high on anyone's list. It's more like a side show. The first time you step into this world you don't know what to expect and the makers of this film exploit that to the fullest. The first run throw you end up jumping in your seat and getting a creepy vibe until the very end.
